Sons of the Forest Breaks All-Time Record for The Forest by almost 4x within 24h of release.
In a not so surprising turn of events, the recently released Sons of the Forest has already broken the all-time record of its predecessor, The Forest, by almost 4x.
The Forest, which was released in 2014, had a peak concurrent player count of 76,226 four months ago, whereas Sons of the Forest has a peak concurrent player count of 269,563 in the first 24 hours.
No suprise
This comes at no suprise as the game was met with an incredibly hyped fanbase, with such a large fan base that the moment the game was released, the entire Steam store page crashed due to people trying to buy the game all at once, earger to play the game.
For the unaware
Sons of the Forest is a survival horror game developed by Endnight Games and is a sequel to their first game, The Forest.
The game is set on a remote island where players must fight to survive against a tribe of mutants and canibals after collapsing in a helicopter while looking for a lost billionare.
The game's improved building system, graphics, and gameplay mechanics have all received positive feedback from players.
The future
Given that the game has only been out for less than 24 hours, we wouldn't be surprised if this record is broken even further over time, especially since the game is in EA and the developer has assured players that active fixes, content updates, and patches can be expected, which is great news for those who are already addicted to the game and for those who are still holding back for that bit of extra meat on the bones.
NLM was fortunate enough to receive two review keys, so expect a review this week.
