Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Guide: Mastering Sprites and Extraction
Carrying the right Sprite into a late game firefight is the easiest way to guarantee a win this season.
If you are ignoring the new companion system, you are actively choosing to play at a severe disadvantage. Sprites are the defining mechanic of the Runners campaign. These little companions sit in your inventory, equip to your back, and trigger passive abilities that can bail you out of terrible situations. You get to choose between Water, Earth, or Fire at the start of a match. Finding the rest requires digging through specific Sprite Chests or pulling them off the bodies of people you defeat.
Before you grab a high tier companion and run blindly into a hot drop, you need to understand the stakes. If you die with an unextracted Sprite equipped, you lose it. Getting it back costs a massive pile of Sprite Dust. Every Sprite and Passive Ability
You have 11 different companions to track down across four rarity tiers. The rarity generally dictates the power level, but I highly recommend finding a Demon or Ghost Sprite early. Demon gives you a siphon effect that keeps your health topped off during messy squad wipes. Ghost gives you a brief cloaking window when you reload. That tiny moment of invisibility will absolutely save your life when your shotgun clicks empty.
Keep your eyes open for a Legendary Vault Keycard while looting rare chests. Finding one lets you unlock a hidden Sprite Vault loaded with high rarity loot and companions you might not have added to your collection yet.
Special Variants and Modifiers
Finding a standard companion is only half the grind. Every Sprite on the island, except for TheBurntPeanut, has a chance to spawn as a rare Special variant. These versions stack an extra passive buff on top of their base ability.
Before you burn all your resources trying to collect these, know that the drop rates are incredibly low. Finding a regular Zero Point companion is hard enough. Stumbling across a Gold Zero Point Sprite is basically a lottery ticket.
Gold: Grants you additional XP from your eliminations.
Gummy: Yields 10% more Sprite Dust when you extract it.
Galaxy: Gives you 20% more ammo when opening ammo boxes.
How to Farm Mastery Points Safely
Your companions level up as you play. Reaching level five grants them Master status. If you master a Sprite, you unlock bonus rewards like the Sprite Pod Backbling, a Stealth Extraction Frame, massive chunks of XP, and Portable Extraction Pods. You also unlock corresponding pilots for The Guardian Battle Pass outfit as your collection grows.
You earn Mastery Points in two different ways. Eliminating an opponent hands you 200 MP. Looting containers like chests, ammo crates, Sprite Chests, food boxes, or fishing barrels gives you 75 MP.
Before you try to push a companion from level one to five in a single match, think about your survival odds. I strongly advise against doing this. If you get sent back to the lobby at level four, your progress resets to level one. The smartest play is leveling your companion to tier three, extracting it to save your progress, and then finishing the grind in your next match. Extraction Sites and Sprite Dust
Extraction Sites are massive platforms marked by white map icons and vertical light beams. You walk up to the terminal, start the extraction, and wait.
This process immediately alerts everyone nearby. The icon turns red, and you become a massive target. Hide the second you activate that terminal. Once the timer finishes, an Extraction Crate drops down. You only have a tiny window to deposit your companion before the crate vanishes. Securing the deposit permanently adds the companion to your collection and gives you a payout of Sprite Dust. If you manage to survive and secure a Victory Royale, any Sprites currently in your inventory will automatically extract without making you risk a public terminal.
Sprite Dust is your primary currency this season. You spend it at Extraction terminals to buy weapon upgrades, bulk XP, or extra Portable Extractors. More importantly, you use Dust in the main menu to buy back any collected Sprites you lost during a bad drop.
The buyback economy is brutal. Make sure you keep a healthy reserve of Dust or you will be dropping into matches empty-handed.
Rare: 100 SD (Special variants cost 4,000 SD)
