Sony Reportedly Developing PlayStation 5 Pro for 2024 Release, Insider Gaming Claims

According to sources cited by Insider Gaming, Sony is working on a Pro version of the PlayStation 5, with a release date set for 2024.

What to expect

While the website previously mentioned a PS5 with a detachable disk drive, it stressed that this was not the PS5 Pro. Insider Gaming did not reveal any details about the console, other than that players could expect improved graphics, performance, and speeds, as well as a greater emphasis on raytracing in games.

PlayStation 6

Insider Gaming predicts that the PlayStation 6 will not be released until at least 2028. While Sony has not responded to the rumors, the prospect of a new console release always excites gamers.

Microsoft's response

Some gamers believe the PS5 Pro is a reaction to Microsoft's release of the Xbox Series X and S. 

The Xbox Series X is billed as the most powerful console ever created, while the Xbox Series S is a more affordable option for gamers. A PS5 Pro could allow Sony to match Microsoft's performance while also providing a higher-end option for players willing to pay a premium.
