Ready or not - review

The spiritual successor of the swat series: Ready Or Not. This game knows how to grab your attention with its flashy graphics and gunfights, but should you be ready to buy this game, or not….yes amazing pun I know, LETS JUMP INTO IT

GRAPHICS THAT TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY

The graphics in Ready or Not are top-notch. Every little detail is meticulously crafted, and it shows. From the textures of the walls to the way the bullets ricochet to the way your weapon looks as you fire it, everything looks and feels real. The lighting system is especially impressive, and it creates an atmosphere that'll keep you on edge throughout the game. Plenty of AAA studios could learn from this.

OPTIMIZATION AT ITS FINEST (most of the time)

Ready or Not is a well-optimized game, delivering smooth gameplay and immersing players in intense firefights without any lag. However, there seems to be a strange exception when it comes to the map "SULLIVAN's Slope."

Despite the game's overall amazing performance, my co-op partner and I have had a lot of trouble with this particular map. Although it's unclear why this is the case, it has made playing on this specific map less than ideal. Despite this, the game plays incredibly well and is thrilling on all other maps.

AI TEAMMATES THAT ARE BETTER THAN YOU

Giving orders to your AI teammates is one of Ready or Not's trickier features. They'll comply with your orders and generally make an effort to keep out of your way. But they really aren't flawless, and occasionally they will get in your way or take longer to complete a task than you'd like. Overall, though, they make sure that the game is playable in singleplayer and can hold their own in firefights.

METH HEAD ACCURACY

In Ready or Not, the enemy AI is incredibly harsh. They'll present a significant challenge, requiring you to make the best use of your abilities and tools. However, because they almost never give up and occasionally have superhuman reaction times, this can occasionally be a little too unforgiving. Which can be incredibly frustrating, like you're telling me that five SWAT officers shouting and shooting at you while you're just robbing a gas station won't make you rethink your life choices?

I PREFER DEATH

The civilians in Ready or Not are a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, they add an extra layer of depth and help to create a more immersive world. On the other hand, they're often too dumb to breathe and can be frustrating.

They'll sometimes resist too much or run away, which can be annoying when you're trying to complete a mission, because why the hell are they running into enemy gunfire instead of listening to the SWAT officers trying to rescue them? Sure, there can be a few idiots in between BUT IT HAPPENS SO OFTEN

Which, talking about running away, since you are unable to run, you are forced to either hobble across the entire map to capture them or... commit war crimes

MY FITBIT IT’S BATTERY CAN’T KEEP UP

The map selection in Ready or Not is quite good. And there are many mods available that add even more maps, which is great. However, all of the basegame maps are quite huge, which can make them feel a bit overwhelming at times. It would be great if there were some smaller maps, like the gas station one for example.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, while Ready or Not certainly has its share of frustrating moments, it also offers a realistic gameplay experience that makes it a strong contender to the title of successor of the swat series, especially as it’s being updated and has a supportive modding community.
