Netflix may bring its games to your TV screen, hints new code in iOS app

Netflix may be expanding its game offerings, according to developer Steve Moser, who discovered code in the Netflix app for iOS asking for a controller to play games on television. This has fueled speculation that the streaming powerhouse intends to make its games available on televisions as well.

mobile games

Netflix has been making mobile games available through its streaming service since November 2021. These games are "free" to play for those who have a Netflix subscription and can be accessed on multiple mobile devices. The games are available for download via the Netflix app or the Netflix games website.

discovery

The most recent discovery, however, suggests that Netflix may be planning to expand its gaming services to televisions. The code mentions using a smartphone as a controller, implying that players will soon be able to use their smartphones to control games played on their televisions.

confirm or deny

Netflix has yet to confirm or deny the rumor, but given the company's focus on providing more entertainment options to its subscribers, this move would make sense. The streaming behemoth has already established itself as a dominant player in the TV and movie streaming industries, and entering the gaming market would be a logical next step.

the future

With the gaming industry continuing to grow rapidly, it's really no surprise that major players like Netflix are looking to get in on the action; however, only time will tell how and if Netflix will enter the gaming market.
