This move is expected to save the company between $170 million and $200 million while also focusing on games with larger communities.
it’s hard
According to CEO Andrew Wilson, the restructuring is intended to focus the company's portfolio on games that fit their strategy, while also reviewing the use of office space and restructuring certain teams. "This is the hardest part, and we try to do it with as much care and respect as possible," he adds.
775
The layoffs, which will affect approximately 775 employees, have already begun this quarter. However, Wilson stated that the company will offer affected employees opportunities to transfer to other projects whenever possible. If it is not, they will be given severance pay and other benefits such as healthcare and assistance in continuing their careers.
refocus
This move is part of EA's efforts to refocus its business on games with large communities. With this restructuring, the company hopes to place a greater emphasis on games that can attract and retain a large number of players, resulting in increased revenue and profit margins.
not the only
It's worth noting that EA isn't the only company in the gaming industry that has recently undergone restructuring. Several other game developers have announced staff cuts and restructuring plans in order to adapt to changing market conditions and consumer preferences.
September
The restructuring is expected to be completed by the end of September, and the company hopes that it will allow it to meet its financial objectives while continuing to provide the gaming experiences that fans enjoy.
