Magical Princess True Ending Guide: How to Survive the Time Loop
Reaching the credits for the first time is merely the tutorial for the actual nightmare waiting for you in the time loop.
If you just finished your first run of raising your daughter and felt a bit underwhelmed by a basic three-star conclusion, do not panic. The real meat of this game hides behind a strict sequence of New Game Plus requirements. I spent three and a half full loops deciphering the exact path required to unlock the final "Inherit the Stars" ending. Getting there involves befriending royalty, manipulating the timeline, and diving into a hidden dungeon that will completely wipe your party if you walk in unprepared.
Before you waste an entire 36-month cycle pursuing the wrong goals, you need a strict roadmap. I am going to walk you through the exact checkpoints required across your second and third playthroughs to ensure you actually see the true finale.
Step One: The Setup Run (NG)
You cannot unlock the true ending on a fresh save file. The game literally locks the required items and story triggers behind the "Blessing of the Second" mechanic, which only activates after your first clear.
During your initial run, your only goal is to complete as many challenges as possible. These challenges award points that carry over into your next loop, allowing you to buy starting bonuses. Pick a single stat to push to S rank, pick a complementary school track, and try to get a solid grasp on the basic mechanics. If you are struggling to figure out the early game efficiency, read my Magical Princess best track beginner guide to get your bearings. Max out your affinity with at least one friend so they become your partner at the end, make a manual save right before the final month, and lock in the highest-rated ending you qualify for.
Step Two: The Two Queens Ending (NG+)
Your second playthrough is entirely dedicated to securing a specific item called the Fragment of Succession. You only get this item by unlocking the "Two Queens" ending, which is exclusively available in NG+ or higher.
Befriending Royalty
To trigger this ending, you must max out your friendship with the Queen. Push her affinity all the way to 100. Furthermore, you cannot skip out on your civic duties. You must actively participate in every single Crimson Moon combat event. If you need a refresher on how to survive those nighttime invasions without ruining your daughter's alignment, check my Magical Princess Crimson Moon morality breakdown.
The August 900 Checkpoint
If you successfully maxed out the Queen's affinity and defended the city during the red moons, the Queen will approach you in August of the year 900. She will ask for your aid in fighting the final boss. You must accept her request three consecutive times.
Once you agree, you will jump into a brutal combat sequence. Beat the encounter and proceed to the ending selection screen. Choose the first option presented to you. This locks in the Two Queens ending and permanently adds the Fragment of Succession to your inventory for all future playthroughs.
Step Three: Inherit the Stars (NG++)
Now you have the fragment. Start your third loop. With the bonus points you accumulated from your previous runs, you should easily afford massive starting stat boosts and instant affinity with multiple friends.
The Forbidden Research Grind
With the Fragment of Succession in your possession, the standard research task at the library changes into "Forbidden Research". You must dedicate your time to pushing this new activity all the way to Level 5. Once you max it out, a brand new hidden dungeon location will appear on your map.
Surviving the Hidden Dungeon
Do not click on that dungeon until you are completely prepared. Once you enter and clear it, the game skips straight to the final ending sequence.
The enemies in this secret zone hit with absurd force. The final boss will easily two-shot your strongest companions and three-shot your daughter. Interestingly, any character you secured a partner ending with in your previous playthroughs will actually show up to help you in this fight. If you followed my advice and got a partner in NG and the Queen in NG+, you will have two helpers. They act as cannon fodder to absorb a few hits while you deal the real damage.
You need high burst damage to survive this. The Bow is the absolute king of NG++ combat because you finally have the massive Stamina and Charm stats required to make it shine. Skills like Laser Arrow hit multiple targets incredibly hard. Pair the bow with the absolute strongest allies you can find. If you are unsure who deserves a spot in your squad, consult my Magical Princess best friends tier list to build a proper team composition.
The Essential NG+ Blessings
When you spend your points at the start of a new loop, you are offered several powerful gear and passive options under the "Blessing of the Second" menu. Some of these are useless traps. Here is exactly what you should spend your hard-earned points on to make your true ending run as painless as possible.
Once you clear the dungeon, choose the option to "Inherit the Stars". The game will roll the final credits immediately, and you will finally have the ultimate achievement permanently etched onto your profile.
