Inside the Backrooms Review: A Terrifying Adventure into the Unknown

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be confined to a never-ending maze of dimly lit, yellow rooms? Well, wonder no more! Welcome to "Inside the Backrooms", a game that will take you on a terrifying journey through the depths of the unknown. Let's get started!

Into the details

Inside the Backrooms has decent graphics; they're not remarkable, but they're adequate for a low-cost indie game. The environments in the game are well-designed, creating a creepy and intriguing atmosphere.

OPTIMIZATION

The game is well-optimized, and bugs are uncommon. You won't have to worry about the game crashing or running at the same speed as your grandmother flipping trough a picture book as it runs smoothly and efficiently, even on lower-end computers. This allows you to focus on running from a scary fucking dog and not on technical issues, making for a more enjoyable experience.

5+5 = 11

The puzzles in Inside the Backrooms are challenging, requiring some brainpower to solve. However, they never become tiresome or overly difficult, ensuring that the game remains enjoyable throughout. The puzzles are well-designed and keep you engaged, making for a fun and satisfying experience.

LEVELS

Inside the Backrooms does suffer slightly from a lack of levels, which is a bit of a shame. However, the available levels are well-designed and provide a pleasant experience. Each level has its own set of challenges and puzzles, which keeps the game fresh and interesting.

Are you scared yet?

The game is definitely terrifying, particularly the first level. The tense atmosphere keeps you on edge, creating a truly thrilling experience. Unfortunately, the later levels lose some of that scary factor with a smaller selection of less terrifying creatures, but they still provide a good overall experience.

Marathon

At the start, Inside the Backrooms can be quite difficult as the starting puzzles can take a bit to figure out and the creatures hunting you can be quite ruthless but once you figure out what to do, it becomes a lot easier.

he game offers a good challenge without becoming overly difficult or frustrating. The difficulty level is well-balanced, resulting in a rewarding experience when you solve a puzzle or finish a level.

THIS AIN’T MY KINDA PARTY

The party level in Inside the Backrooms is horrible. It's frustrating and annoying, and it's a shame that almost all of the hidden achievements are tied to replaying this level. The party level feels out of place and detracts from the overall experience because holy fuck IS IT ANNOYING TO RUN THROUGH A MAZE 50 TIMES WITH A TIMER ON

LORE AND ENDINGS

Inside the Backrooms' lore and secret endings are entertaining and add to the overall experience. They provide some backstory and add to the mystery of the game, making it more interesting and giving you a reason to play past the initial playtime; hell there is even an entire secret third level.

What’s that behind you?

Inside the Backrooms has a tense atmosphere that keeps you on edge, making for a truly thrilling experience. The game does an excellent job of building suspense and creating an atmosphere that is both creepy and intriguing through sound cues, lore, and the monsters.

Groundhog day

Even though some elements are randomized, Inside the Backrooms isn't a game you'll be tempted to keep playing. The game is enjoyable, but once you've completed it, there's not much reason to play it again, aside from the secret endings, which, as previously stated, all revolve around the shitty party level.

CONCLUSION

To summarize, Inside the Backrooms is one of the best backroom games available, particularly for the price. Sure, it's not all rainbows and sunshine, but the game has a lot of potential and offers a good experience, with well-designed levels, puzzles, and scary creatures,  all at an amazing price. The game deserves a 8.5 out of 10.
