Screenwriter Jon Spaihts Tapped for Netflix Adaptation of gears of war

The screenwriter of the Modern Dune films, Jon Spaihts, has been tapped to pen the script for the Netflix film based on the Gears of War franchise.

Netflix made the announcement after working with The Coalition on multiple Gears projects since November of last year.

Dune

Spaihts, who co-wrote the scripts for the first and upcoming sequels to Dune with Denis Villeneuve and Eric Roth, stated, "Gears of War is one of the best action games ever made, with vivid characters, a gorgeously designed world, and a combat system that emphasizes the horrific nature of war and the importance of assisting your teammates. It aspires to be cinema, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."

Ideal choice

The Gears of War franchise is well known for its incredible gameplay and stunning world, and Spaihts appears to be the ideal choice to bring the game to life on the big screen. He has also written scripts for Doctor Strange and Prometheus, among other films, so he is no stranger to the sci-fi genre.

Netflix

The story of the first Gears of War game is loosely summarized in the Netflix press release, so it appears likely that this story will be adapted for the film. It is unknown which actors will play the lead roles, but fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting more information.

Thrilled

As for Spaihts, he seems thrilled to be working on the project, and we can't wait to see what he comes up with. The Gears of War film is sure to be a hit with fans of the game, and with Spaihts at the helm, Netflix seems to be confident it will also appeal to a wider audience.
