RESISTANCE TRILOGY REMASTER RUMORS HEAT UP AS SONY RENEWS IP

Ever since Sony's been spring cleaning their live service closet, fans have been wondering what's next for their classic IPs. Now, a fresh trademark renewal for Resistance in Europe has the rumor mill spinning faster than a Chimera's cooling fan.

THE BLUEPOINT CONNECTION

With Bluepoint Games suddenly finding themselves with free time after the God of War live service project got axed, and their proven track record of making old games look prettier than a photo mode screenshot, the pieces are starting to fit together like a well-crafted puzzle.

BACK TO THE FALL

For those who missed out on humanity's alternate history alien invasion, Resistance kicked off in 2006 with Fall of Man, becoming PS3's biggest launch title and snagging nominations faster than a Chimeran virus spreads. The series spawned four more titles across PS3, PSP, and Vita before going dormant in 2011, like a Chimera in cryosleep.

THE SHOOTER VOID

While Microsoft's sitting pretty with Call of Duty in their arsenal, Sony's first-party shooter lineup is looking thinner than a Slipstream's armor. A Resistance revival could give PlayStation the shooter it needs, especially with modern graphics and gameplay improvements.

THE BOTTOM LINE

While this is all speculation based on a trademark renewal (about as solid as a Bullseye's accuracy at long range), the timing is interesting. With Insomniac busy making Wolverine's claws shinier until 2026, maybe it's time for someone else to give their original alien-blasting franchise some love.
