Nintendo on the Hunt: Zelda Artbook Leaker Being Tracked Down Ahead of 'Tears of the Kingdom' Release
According to rumors, Nintendo is looking for the person who uploaded the entire artbook for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom online. According to TorrentFreak, the organization has served a subpoena to Discord in order to learn the name, residence, contact information, and email address of the user known only as Julien#2743.
leak
All 200 pages of an unreleased artbook for the upcoming game were shared on Reddit earlier this year. The book is a part of the Collector's Edition and includes pictures of the settings, people, and different plot points. How the artbook was leaked is unknown, but Nintendo has filed a lawsuit as a result of the leak.
history
Nintendo has a history of severely punishing copyright infringement, but it is still unknown what punishment the leaker may receive. Two people were fined $150,000 each in 2019 for leaking pages from a Pokémon Sword & Shield strategy manual.
the game
The sequel to the wildly popular Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, is eagerly awaited. Once again, Hyrule is the setting of the game, but this time, pieces of land are floating in the air. The game is scheduled to launch for the Nintendo Switch on May 12.
the future
It remains to be seen what kind of punishment, if any, Julien#2743 will face. It serves as a reminder that keeping secrets in the digital age is difficult. Companies must be vigilant in protecting their intellectual property while also considering the impact leaks can have on their fans and business.
