Elden Ring Players have managed to Die Over 9 Billion Times, Reveals Bandai Namco

In celebration of the game's one-year anniversary, Bandai Namco has shared some interesting statistics about the player experience in Elden Ring.

According to data published on the publisher's website, all players have died over nine billion times since the game's release. That is more than the entire world's population!

Again and again

According to the statistics, the majority of these deaths (69%) were caused by enemies and NPCs, with falls from great heights accounting for 14% of fatalities. Poison and bleed status effects were responsible for 15% of the deaths, leaving only 2% to be attributed to other players' actions.

Malenia, Blade of Miquella, appears to be the most difficult encounter, with players attempting to defeat her 329 million times. Margit, The Fell Omen, the first major mandatory final boss, has been fought 281 million times. The top five are The Tree Sentinel in Limgrave (277 million), Radagon of the Golden Order (148 million), and Starscourage Radahn (139 million).

players have invoked over a billion summons. Rock Sling, Crystal Torrent, Glintstone Pebble, Greatblade Phalanx, and Rotten Breath are the most popular spells. Meanwhile, the most commonly obtained incantations are Bestial Sling, Golden Vow, The Flame of Frenzy, and Bestial Vitality.

Elden Ring was released in February 2022 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC by FromSoftware, the studio behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Despite the high death toll, the game has sold over 20 million copies worldwide and was named Game of the Year at the 2022 Game Awards.
