Former Forza Horizon and Fable Studio Head Gavin Raeburn starts Lighthouse Games with a New AAA IP in mind

Gavin Raeburn, co-founder and former studio head of Playground Games, has announced the formation of Lighthouse Games, a new development studio. The team, which is based in the same parish as Playground, is already hard at work on an unannounced triple-A game based on a new IP.

not new

Raeburn is no stranger to building profitable franchises. He was a driving force behind the hugely popular Forza Horizon series, one of the most successful Xbox and racing franchises in general. Prior to that, he worked at Codemasters on titles such as Dirt, Grid, and F1. Raeburn's new studio intends to carry on this tradition of excellence by developing a new franchise that will redefine a genre.

experienced and ready

With "thirty former colleagues and other industry stalwarts" on board, Lighthouse Games is already getting a lot of attention in the industry. The studio is actively hiring, and candidates interested in working there can apply through the Lighthouse website.

Raeburn's departure from Playground was just one of several changes in the UK game development scene last year. Maverick Games was founded earlier this year by a group of lead developers led by former creative director Mike Brown. This new studio is developing an open-world PC and console game.

new ip

With Raeburn and his team working on a new IP and Maverick Games developing an open-world game, it's clear that the UK game development scene is brimming with talent.

Fans can look forward to new games and franchises in the coming years.
