Battlefield 2042 will appear within weeks as part of Microsoft's Game Pass and EA Play subscriptions.
The newest installation in the battlefield series(and perhaps the most disappointing one) will become part of both subscriptions, at the start of the third season, which does not have an exact release date yet; the update ,however, is only “a few weeks” away according to EA.
The third-season-update which is paired with the gamepass release also bring some new content: the addition of a new map, a new Specialist, a new battle pass and modifications to two of the existing playgrounds: Manifest and Breakaway. It will also include two new weapons taken from previous games in the Battlefield series: the German XM8 from Bad Company 2 and the Russian A-91 from Battlefield 3. I’m sure that everyone reading this who still plays the game is both excited and TERIFIED by this news, sure, new guns are fun, but knowing battlefield 2042, they might just need 50 bug fixes to actually be balanced.
It has been known for some time now that the old class system will also return in some form. This addition, however, will only come sometime in early 2023 as part of update 3.2.
The change will place specialists in more segregated roles with access to gadgets and equipment that actually fit that role. Until now, any specialist could use all gadgets because ,hell, who cares about the design choices which, even though small, contributed to the previous games their successes! All joking aside, this is once again a step in the right direction and it shows that perhaps the future does hold something positive for Battlefield 2042.
Weapons , however , will remain available to everyone after update 3.2. With that, the class system will not be as comprehensive as in previous titles, where there were also restrictions on which weapons were accessible per class
