Detective Pikachu is Back: Jonathan Krisel to Direct Sequel

Get ready to catch ‘em all once again, because a sequel to Pokémon Detective Pikachu is in the works.

According to Deadline, Jonathan Krisel is in negotiations to direct the live-action film for Legendary Entertainment, with Chris Galletta being the guy behind the script.

Box office hit

The first film, starring Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the protagonist Pikachu, was a box office smash in 2019, grossing over $430 million worldwide.

Fans of the first part and Pokemon in general, will be keen to know what Krisel and Galletta have in store for the sequel.

Krisel & Galletta

Krisel is best known as a writer and director on shows such as Portlandia and Baskets, where he bought a quirky and offbeat style to his work.

Galletta has previously written scripts for comedies such as The Kings of Summer and The Lego Batman Movie, so it will be interesting to see how he applies his writing style to the world of Pokémon.

We will have to wait

There have been no plot details or casting announcements, but fans can expect to see their favorite pocket monsters brought to life on the big screen once more. Will Justice Smith's character Tim Goodman return, or will there be new human and Pokémon partners? The only way to know is to wait and see.

For the time being, fans can speculate and get excited about the next adventure in the world of Pokémon.
