Destiny 2 Legendary Marks Farming Guide: Clean Out The Vaults Before The End
Bungie is letting us strip the inventory clean before the lights go out on a decade of space magic.
I have spent a massive chunk of my adult life staring at the orbit screen in this game. Now that the final live-service update is officially here, the studio dropped one last progression loop on us in the form of Legendary Marks. You can't swipe your credit card for these, and you can't exchange your hoard of Bright Dust or Silver to bypass the barrier. You actually have to load into the game and play it. If you want to scoop up all the legacy gear and fancy cosmetic ornaments waiting at the Tower, you need a plan that doesn't respect the time-wasting traps Bungie loves to set. I spent my launch day digging through the menus to map out the most efficient way to maximize your wallet.
Funding Your Final Shopping Spree
The grind starts with a complete freebie. You get a flat stack of 50 Legendary Marks just for logging into the game after the update goes live. Think of it as a small parting gift for surviving years of server errors.
Once you pocket that initial launch bonus, your primary income stream shifts to the Journey menu. You need to open your character screen, jump into the Journey tab, select Triumphs, and look for the Monument of Triumph sub-page. As spotted by the folks over at the r/destiny2 community, the developers packed exactly 204 individual challenges into this virtual bucket list.
Every single one of these tasks hands over 15 or more Legendary Marks upon completion. You can press X on your PlayStation pad or A on your Xbox controller to pin them to your user interface for easy tracking. A lot of these are hilarious simple. I managed to score quick currency by running around different destinations to chat with vendors or stopping by the Tower to pet Archie (who is still the best boy in the solar system, obviously).
Spending Your Hoard At The Tenets
When your inventory is packed with marks, you need to head straight to the center of the Tower destination. Bungie dropped a giant structure called the Monument of Guardian Tenets right in the plaza.
The monument consists of four distinct interactive pillars that act as premium vending machines for legacy loot. Each pillar hoards a completely specific category of gear. I laid out the exact inventory mapping below so you don't accidentally dump your hard-earned tokens into the wrong pillar.
If you finish all 204 baseline Triumphs and still find yourself short on cosmetics, don't panic. The currency is infinitely earnable. You can keep farming small packets of marks indefinitely by clearing out the recurring weekly objectives located over in the seasonal hub.
The Most Efficient Path To Max Marks
You can technically check off these boxes in any order you want, but some of these categories will absolutely murder your free time if you tackle them blindly. Before you waste hours chasing single objectives, you should structure your play sessions to double-dip your progression naturally.
Step 1: Abuse the Teamwork and Combat Synergy
I recommend starting your daily routine by queuing directly into Vanguard Strikes and Battlegrounds under the Teamwork menu. These missions are completely linear, incredibly predictable, and you can burn through them in minutes with a casual matchmade group.
The real trick here is passive efficiency. While you are mindlessly sprinting through these strikes, you will automatically build massive progress toward the Targets checklist inside your Combat tab. Knocking out combatants in cooperative playlists lets you clear two major sources of marks at the exact same time without adding any extra steps to your evening.
Step 2: Clear Campaigns and Overworld Horizons
Once you exhaust the strike milestones, you need to pivot directly to the Campaign tab. These story entries are definitely longer than a quick battleground encounter, but the actual mechanical demands are dead simple. I suggest grouping up with a couple of friends to melt the boss health bars and cut your overall mission times in half.
Right after the story content, you want to clear out the Worlds category. This section is essentially a massive pile of free money. Most of the requirements just ask you to explore the overworld locations across different planets. It's a peaceful change of pace that doesn't involve dodging incoming sniper fire.
Step 3: PvP Milestones and the Endgame Lockout
If you have a decent grasp on competitive matches, you can easily knock out the entire Competitions category inside a standard week. You can secure quick completions by jumping into basic Crucible modes like running a 3v3 match three separate times. If you completely despise traditional competitive gunfights, you can pivot over to the Sparrow Racing League (SRL) to secure your currency on the racetrack instead. Just keep an eye on the schedule for Trials of Osiris, since that specific competitive weekend playlist only cycles back into rotation once every four weeks.
You should leave Raid Challenges and Exotic Missions for the absolute end of your seasonal journey. These high-tier milestones demand a massive time investment and a highly coordinated fireteam to pull off safely. Save them for when you can assemble a dedicated weekend team, and clear out the easy solo steps first so you can walk into the final raids with a fully loaded wallet.
